Eligibility

Educational Qualification

Must hold a Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Automobile Engineering 

(OR)

Must hold a Diploma in Automobile Engineering

Licence Requirement

Must hold a Motor Driving License and have experience in driving motor vehicles for a period of not less than 3 years and possess Heavy Transport vehicles(HMV) endorsement.

Provided that where persons with 3 years experience in driving motor vehicles are not available, persons with two years experience in driving motor vehicles may be appointed.

Provided further that in case of Women, they must hold a Motor Vehicle driving license, if they are holder of Light Motor Vehicle Driving License only, they shall acquire the Heavy Transport Vehicle Endorsement within two years of their joining the service as Assistant Motor Vehicles Inspector, failing which their services will be terminated without assigning any reasons.

Physical Requirements

For Men:- The Minimum height must be not less than 165 Cms. in height andmust not be less than 86.3 Cms. round the chest on full inspiration with a minimum expansion of 5.00 Cms.

For Men (SC/ST and Aboriginal Tribes):- The minimum height must not be less than 160 Cms and must not less than 83.80 Cms round the chest on full inspiration with a minimum expansion of 5.00 Cms.

For Women:- The height shall not be less than 157.5 Cms. and must not be less than 82.30 Cms. round the chest on full inspiration with a minimum of expansion 5.00 Cms.

For Women (SC/ST and Aboriginal Tribes):- The minimum height must not be less than 152.5 Cms. and must not less than 79.80 Cms. round the chest on full inspiration with a minimum expansion of 5.00 Cms.

Visual Standards WITHOUT glasses

(a) Right Eye: Distance Vision 6/6 Near Vision: 0.5 (on Snellen’s Chart)

(b) Left Eye: Distance Vision 6/6 Near Vision: 0.5 (on Snellen’s Chart)

(c) Each eye must have a full field of vision.

(d) Colour Blindness, Squint or any morbid conditions of the eyes or lids of either eye shall be deemed to be a disqualification.

Disqualifying Conditions

Candidates with knock knees, pigeon chest, flat foot, varicose veins, hammer toes, fractured limbs, decayed teeth shall be deemed to be disqualified.

PAPER – I

1. Major Current Events and Issues pertaining to International, National and State of Andhra Pradesh.

2. General Science and its applications to the day to day life Contemporary developments in Science & Technology and Information Technology.

3. History of India – emphasis will be on broad general understanding of the subject in its social, economic, cultural and political aspects with a focus on AP and Indian National Movement.

4. Geography of India with focus on Andhra Pradesh.

5. Indian Polity and Governance: constitutional issues, public policy, reforms and e-Governance initiatives.

6. Indian Economy and Planning.

7. Sustainable Development and Environmental Protection.

8. Disaster Management: vulnerability profile, prevention and mitigation strategies, Application of Remote Sensing and GIS in the assessment of Disaster.

9. Logical reasoning, analytical ability and logical interpretation.

10. Data Analysis: Tabulation of data Visual representation of data Basic data analysis (Summary Statistics such as mean, median, mode and variance) and Interpretation.

PAPER-II

1. Basic thermodynamics - Systems-Closed/Open systems, Property, Cycle, Thermodynamic equilibrium - Zeroth law, First law, Second Law of thermodynamics - Pure substance -Mollier Diagram -Vapor Power cycles - Rankine cycle.

2. Air standard cycles-Otto, Diesel, Dual combustion cycle, derivation of expressions for mean effective pressure-diagram factor, efficiency, Sterling engine.

3. Gears-nomenclature-simple, compound, epicyclic trains-calculations of torques.

4. Shafts-solid, hollowshafts; shear stress and angular deflection due to torque applied; bending moments — combined moment and torque.

5. Friction - inclined plane; screw and nut; screw jock; self locking.

6. Fuels - fire and flash point - calorific value - calorimeters- octane, certane numbers and its importance — stochometic ratio.

7. Single cylinder, multi cylinder engine - pre whirl chambers - combustion/ignition delay - knocking, detonation.

8. Firing order; piston and piston rings; temperature profile of piston.

9. Fuel system - Carburetion, corburetors, Gasoline/petrol injection systems - diesel fuel injection systems, types-common rail injection system, Fuel tank.

10. Balancing of single cylinder engines.

11. Lubrication and cooling systems in automobile.

12. Transmission - gear box - clash type, synchromesh, automatic transmission systems.

13. Propeller-shaft — universal coupling — differential - half shafts - floating,

14. Clutches - single, multi-plate - bearing pressure-pressure plate - axial load - fluid clutch.

15. Brakes and brake mechanisms-mechanical, hydraulic and air brakes,

16. Steering - condition for correct steering — Ackermann steering.

17. Electrical system - delco system, circuit wiring, working of electrical equipment.

Exhaust gas analysis — Pollutants – Sources – Formation – Effects of Pollution on Environment – Human – Transient Operational Effects on Pollution – Regulated - Unregulated Emissions – Emission Standards. EMISSIONS IN SI ENGINE: Chemistry of SI Engine Combustion – HC and CO Formation in SI Engines – No Formation in SI Engines – Smoke Emissions from SI Engines – Effect of Operating variables on Emission Formation. EMISSIONS IN CI ENGINE: Basics of Diesel Combustion – Smoke Emission and its Types in Diesel Engines – NOx Emission and its Types from Diesel Engines – Particulate Emission in Diesel Engines. 22. Materials- structure of the metals -imperfections-ferrous and non ferrous materials-heat treatment of steels.
